PNG to JPG: when it makes sense

PNG is usually best for screenshots, logos, and transparency. JPG is usually best for photos where you want smaller file sizes. Converting PNG to JPG can shrink large images, but you’ll lose transparency (it becomes a solid background) and introduce compression artifacts.

Tips

• If you need transparency, keep PNG or use WebP.
• For photos, quality 85–92 is a good starting point.
• For screenshots with text, increase quality to reduce blurring.
